Using a varigated yarn is a great way to make stripes without having a lot of ends to work in, and the garter band on this sweater does just that.
This roomy, drop-shoulder bolero-style cardigan is adorable and easy to knit. Simple increases and decreases shape the curve of the front pieces and the back is knitted straight up.
After the sweater is finished, knit up the garter band to fit from one end to the other, add a button, sew the side seams, and you're done.
This pattern is for sizes 6,12 or 18 months (finished chest measurement: 19/22/24".
The yarn called for is worsted weight to work up at 4 sts/1" in stockinette (straight) stitch on size 7 needles.
This pattern is shown in a deep purple with a varigated yarn that has shades of lavender, turquoise, burgundy and bottle-green and finished with a deep green-blue button: feel free to be creative with color and button choices!
