This is an easy sweater with minimal finishing: the sleeves are picked up and worked from the shoulder down, so there are only the side seams to finish, and the neck stitches are picked up and worked at the end.
The pattern is for sizes 6,12 or 18 months (finished chest measurement: 19"/21"/23") plus a matching hat. A pattern is also available for sizes 2(3) years (finished chest measurement: 25/27").
The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn that will work up at 4 sts/1" in stockinette (straight) stitch on size 7 needles, and includes graphed charts for both upper and lower case letters (capital letters are 14 rows high).
The sweater is a roomy, drop-shouldered rollneck pullover with rolled cuffs. The matching hat has a ribbed bottom that fits over the ears comfortably without binding.
The sweater shown is light gray with a navy "M"; let your imagination run wild with color combinations!
