When my daughter was three, she wanted a red sweater. I didn't have enough red to complete it, so I worked the ribbings and buttonbands in blue, green, and yellow. I was stumped when it came to picking buttons, and then I saw the "number buttons". What could be more basic than primary colors and beginning numbers?
This roomy, drop-shoulder cardigan is adorable and easy to knit.
There is minimal finishing: the sleeves are picked up and worked from the shoulder down, so there are only the side seams to finish, and the button bands are worked in garter stitch as you knit the sweater.
The yarn is Peaches & Creme 100% unmercerized cotton in worsted weight. This yarn is soft, has a nice hand, and works up quickly at 4sts=1" on size 7 needles (needles not included).
The kit contains enough yarn to make the largest size sweater and hat, buttons, and yarn for the hat trim, plus complete instructions.
The color is red; the button band and bottom edge are blue; the sleeve trim is green, and the hat is trimmed in yellow with a green loop. The buttons are white and numbered 1, 2, 3, 4.
