AS SEEN IN THE JUNE 2006 ISSUE OF KnitNet
A scarf with corkscrew tassels intrigued me: how did they twist like that? Experimentation finally worked and voila, a cheery hat was born.
This is an easy and adorable hat to knit with minimal finishing: the hat is knitted in the round, and the tassles are worked separately and sewn on so there are only your casting-on and binding-off ends to work in.
The finished measurements for this hat are 16" and 18".
The yarn is Peaches & Creme 100% unmercerized cotton in worsted weight; the hat is medium blue, and the tassles are turquoise, lime green, and red. This yarn is soft, has a nice hand, and works up quickly at 4sts=1" in stockinette stitch on size 7 needles (needles not included).
The kit contains enouch yarn to make the larger size hat plus complete instructions.
This is a project you can do in an evening and have ready for the baby shower tomorrow!
