This is my version of the popular fruit hat: the leaves are knitted separately and sewn on. At first, I called this my Apple Hat but found that people at shows referred to it by whatever red fruit came to mind. So as not to leave any fruits out, I offer this in yellow, orange and purple as well.
This is an easy and adorable hat to knit with minimal finishing: the hat is knitted in the round, switching from red to brown for the stem, so there are only your casting-on and binding-off ends to work in. The leaves are worked separately and sewn on.
The finished measurements for this kit are 18" and 19".
The yarns are Peaches & Creme 100% unmercerized cotton in worsted weight. This yarn is soft, has a nice hand, and works up quickly at 4sts=1" in stockinette stitch on size 7 needles (needles not included).
The kit contains enough yarn to make the larger size hat, yarn for the stem and leaves, plus complete instructions.
The kit is also available in purple, orange, and yellow so you can make the fruit of your choice.
This is a project you can do in an evening and have it ready for the baby shower tomorrow!
